The Community Mental Health & Recovery Board of Licking and Knox Counties was established by the State Mental Health Act of 1988 and Sub House Bill 317. The Board is mandated by state law to provide community-based behavioral health care (mental health recovery and substance abuse/addiction services) to citizens of Licking and Knox Counties regardless of their ability to pay. The Board provides services through contracts with local not-for-profit agencies that follow strict standards mandated by the state and federal governments and by the Board.

2-1-1 is the new number to dial to reach the Crisis Hotline and Information Center in Knox or Licking Counties . Phones are answered by real people, trained professionals, with access to a comprehensive database connecting you to all the assistance available. It’s fast, free and completely confidential for information and referral or when you need help in a short-term crisis.

2-1-1 provides information on about 700 agencies and 1800 programs that serve Licking and Knox counties who can provide assistance for a variety of needs. Examples include referrals for emergency shelter, rent or utility assistance, substance abuse, elder services, relationships, food, depression, employment, health care, abuse, parenting, crisis intervention, suicide prevention and disaster recovery.

The Licking County Transit Services (LCT) is the demand responsive public transportation system for Licking County residents living outside the cities of Newark and Heath (the Earthworks Transit program is available to those citizens). We provide origin to destination services. The LCT is owned, operated and governed by the citizens of Licking County through the Licking County Transit Board.
We hope that this web site will provide you with the information that you need to access the LCT transportation services. This site has information on services, schedules, fare charges and much more. To oversee the operation of the Veterans' Service Office, to provide temporary financial assistance applicants, to provide transportation to VA Medical Centers and to assist veterans in obtaining earned benefits from the federal, state, and local levels of government.

Emergency funds for food, housing and utilities may be provided to veterans and active military personnel and/or their dependants. Qualifying applicants will have established three months of residency in Licking County, and will have a qualifying DD Form 214 or military ID card. The following factors will be considered when determining financial need: proof of income, assets, and current bills. Unemployed veterans are required to be actively seeking employment or must provide medical evidence of the inability to work. Applications for financial assistance are taken Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 3:00pm except on legal holidays by appointment only until the fourth Tuesday of each month excepting December. Please contact the Veterans' Service Office for details. A list of items needed to complete the application for emergency financial assistance is included, as well as, a “landlord statement” if rent is unpaid.

Veterans of Licking County can be transported to any VA medical center in our district for their appointments. Catholic social services will provide door-to-door transportation. Please contact our office at least one week prior to your appointment to schedule a ride. To take advantage of the transportation service, proof of veteran eligibility is required (DD form 214).
