The Ohio Veterans Home Agency is a State of
Ohio establishment comprised of two facilities, a home located in
Sandusky, Ohio (approximately 60 miles west of Cleveland) and a home
located in Georgetown, Ohio (approximately 45 miles east of Cincinnati).
The Georgetown Home is a licensed nursing home providing two levels
of nursing care – standard care and special care (Alzheimer/
Dementia). The Sandusky Home, in addition to offering standard care
and special care in its licensed nursing home, also offers Veterans
Hall (DOM), a domiciliary for those who are able to function in an
independent living situation, and DOM+ for those requiring very limited
assistance (supervised care) but who do not require the level of care
provided to nursing home residents.
Regardless of which level of care required, all residents have the
freedom and convenience of a small community as well as the comforts
of a home-like setting. The Ohio Veterans Home Agency offers a quality
of life, which emphasizes privacy, encourages independence, provides
comfort and security, and meets social needs.

Medina County
has been awarded $32,500 from the Ohio Department of Development
for the purpose of assisting Medina County Residents with needed
home repairs.
Examples of these issues
may include but are not limited to the following:
- Structural deterioration: The collapse of a roof, foundation,
floor or wall clearly represents a safety issue. The quick and
thorough repair of this type of problem may save the integrity
of the home
- Mechanical failures: Any issue with the heating, plumbing and
electrical system can cause immediate danger to the resident.
These issues must be addressed as soon as possible so as not to
compromise the health and safety of the occupant. Issues arising
from mechanical failure can quickly escalate, i.e. furnace shut-down
in frigid weather can cause water pipes to freeze and burse, etc.
- Water or sewer tap-ins, well and septic system repairs and/or
replacement. Water or sewer tap-ins may be completed through this
activity if the applicant is eligible and there is a health or
safety risk.
- Accessibility Improvements: Accessibility improvements may be
completed through this activity making the home handicapped accessible
for the owner.
